Teacher Agreement

How teaching on ShinyTeach works: pricing, earnings, payouts and your commitments.

Version 1 · in force since Wed 30 Sep 2026

PLACEHOLDER — LEGAL ACTION REQUIRED BEFORE PRODUCTION. This text describes how ShinyTeach works but has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer.

Your status

You teach on ShinyTeach as an independent teacher, not as an employee. You are responsible for your own tax and social obligations.

Profile and verification

  • Your profile, introduction video and qualifications must be truthful. They are reviewed before your profile is published.
  • Qualification documents are private and used only for verification.

Prices and what you earn

  • You set your price per lesson within the allowed range.
  • ShinyTeach keeps a commission of 35% of the lesson price. Your share is 65%.
  • The payment processing fee is deducted from your share, not from ShinyTeach's commission. The exact figures of every lesson are shown in your earnings.
  • The commission rate is fixed when the student buys: later changes never affect lessons already sold.

Lessons

  • Answer lesson requests on time, keep your calendar up to date and start lessons on time.
  • If you cancel a confirmed lesson or do not show up, you are not paid for it and the student gets the lesson back to book again.

Payouts

  • An earning becomes available 72 hours after the lesson, so that students can report problems.
  • You can request a payout once your available balance reaches the minimum shown in your earnings. Payouts are reviewed and approved before being paid.
  • Earnings from a lesson later found not to have been given correctly may be reversed, with an explanation.

Conduct

The Community Guidelines apply. Do not ask students to pay or meet outside ShinyTeach for lessons found here.

Ending the agreement

You can stop teaching at any time after completing or cancelling your confirmed lessons. ShinyTeach may suspend a teacher account after reviewing serious or repeated breaches.
